Laureates 2006

The Hans-Jürgen-Ewers-Prize 2006 was awarded at the 5th Conference on Applied Infrastructure Research at Berlin University of Technology on October 6, 2006. The Laureates of the Hans-Jürgen-Ewers-Prize 2006 were in equal shares:

Dr. Gernot Liedtke

for his dissertation "An Actor-based Approach to Commodity Transport Modelling". In his dissertation, Mr. Liedtke developes a theoretical framework of freight-transport modelling which he then applies to actor-based modelling of freight traffic. Actor-based simulation approach has a large potential when applied to transport modelling, be it persons or freight. In particular, an agent-based software design supports the mapping of interaction structures, for instance transport networks.

Dr. Tomaso Duso

for his dissertation "The Political Economy of the Regulatory Process: An Empirical Approach". The work of Dr. Duso focusses on regulation as an outcome of a process that is shaped by political as well as economic forces. Thus, the regulatory choice must be endogenized when studying its impact on the market outcome.

Dr. Duso has applied the theory not only to regulated sectors, but also to the Economics of Mergers and Merger Control.
